Lectra is a free download from the App Store. You can start using it right away without an account, or sign in to keep a backup copy of your pages.

Before you begin

  • An iPad with iPadOS 18 or later. Lectra also runs on iPhone with iOS 18 or later, but this guide is written for iPad.
  • About 60 MB of free space for the app, plus room for your documents.
  • An Apple Pencil is recommended for handwriting. For details, see Use Apple Pencil.
For the full list of devices, see System requirements.

Download Lectra

1

Open the App Store

On your iPad, open the App Store.
2

Find the app

Search for Lectra Notes, the app’s name on the App Store, or go straight to the App Store listing. Other, unrelated apps also use the name “Lectra,” so check the full name before you download.
3

Get the app

Tap Get, then confirm the download. When the download finishes, the Lectra icon appears on your Home Screen.

Open Lectra for the first time

When you open Lectra, you see a sign-in screen with three choices. Everything you do with a document works without an account: import, mark up, save, search, and export. An account adds two things: If you choose Sign in later, Lectra remembers your choice and opens straight into your library next time.
Use the same account in Lectra and in the Scope extension. Files you send from your browser arrive only in the Lectra library that’s signed in to the same account.

Sign in after you start

If you started without an account, you can sign in at any time.
1

Find the sign-in button

In the library, look for the person icon with a plus sign next to Lectra at the top of the sidebar. On a narrow window, it’s at the top right.
2

Tap the icon (Sign in), then tap Continue with Google or Continue with Apple.
The documents already on your iPad stay in your library when you sign in. They become part of the account you sign in with. If this iPad has documents from a different account, see Switch accounts on one iPad.

Sign out

1

Open Account settings

In the library, tap your profile picture to open Settings, then tap Account.
2

Sign out

Tap Sign Out of Lectra, then tap Sign Out to confirm.
Signing out doesn’t delete anything. Your documents stay on this iPad, and you can sign in again any time to back up new changes.

Update Lectra

Lectra updates through the App Store like any other app. To update by hand, open the App Store, tap your profile picture, and then tap Update next to Lectra.

Remove Lectra

Your documents and handwriting are stored on your iPad. If you delete the Lectra app, iPadOS deletes your documents with it. Before you delete the app, export anything you want to keep. To learn how, see Export and share.
Deleting the app doesn’t delete your account. To delete your account and the backups stored with it, see Delete your account.
