Scope can restyle Canvas in your browser. You can switch to a warmer theme, tighten or loosen the dashboard cards, see your current grade on each course card, and peek at an assignment without opening it. These changes affect only what you see. Your instructors and classmates see Canvas as usual. All of these options are in the Scope popup under Settings > Appearance. Changes apply to your open Canvas tabs right away, so you can watch them as you choose.
Canvas appearance works on Canvas only. Brightspace pages stay as they are.

Choose a theme for Scope itself

Theme sets the colors of the Scope popup and the search bar that opens on course pages. It doesn’t change Canvas.
1

Open Settings

Click the Scope icon, then click the Settings icon (the gear).
2

Pick light or dark

Under Appearance, next to Theme, click Light or Dark.

Choose a Canvas theme

Canvas theme changes the colors of Canvas pages.
1

Open Appearance

In the Scope popup, go to Settings > Appearance.
2

Pick a theme

Open the Canvas theme menu and choose a theme.
With Paper on, Scope also matches the toolbar around PDFs in Canvas’s document viewer and the background of course video galleries. The PDF pages and the video player themselves don’t change.

Change dashboard card spacing

Card density sets how much space the course cards on your Canvas dashboard take up.

Canvas tweaks

Under Settings > Appearance, open Canvas tweaks to find these switches. They’re all off until you turn them on.
Grade pills show only the grades Canvas shows you. If a course hides grades, its card has no pill.

Reset Canvas appearance

To put Canvas back the way it was, go to Settings > Appearance > Canvas tweaks and click Reset Canvas appearance. Scope asks you to confirm, because this can’t be undone. It clears your theme, card colors, and font choices. Turning everything back to Canvas Default and turning off each tweak has the same effect, one setting at a time.
