# Lectra Receiver for Chrome

> Send PDFs from Chrome to Lectra on your iPad, receive pages back from your iPad, and attach Lectra PDFs on Gradescope.

Lectra Receiver is a free Chrome extension that moves PDFs between your browser and Lectra on your iPad. Use it to send a reading from a browser tab to your iPad, to download a marked-up document you send back from Lectra, and to attach a Lectra PDF to a Gradescope submission without saving it first.

<Note>
  Two Scope apps carry the name Lectra Receiver. This page covers the **Chrome extension**, which you get from the Chrome Web Store. The app you install on a Mac also shows up as Lectra Receiver in your menu bar, and the canvascope.org/receiver page is about that Mac app. To learn about it, see [Lectra for Mac](/lectra/mac).
</Note>

<Tip>
  If you already use the Scope extension for Chrome, it can send course files to your iPad too. To learn how, see [Send files from Chrome to your iPad](/chrome/send-to-ipad). Lectra Receiver is a smaller extension that does only the PDF handoff. If you install both, Lectra Receiver's **Send to Lectra** and **Select from Lectra** buttons take the place of the Scope extension's, so you see one of each.
</Tip>

## Before you begin

* Chrome on a computer.
* Lectra on your iPad, signed in to your account. To learn about accounts, see [Your Scope account](/get-started/account).
* A Google account. Lectra Receiver signs in with Google only. Use the same Google account that you use for Lectra on your iPad, so both apps reach the same library.

## Install Lectra Receiver

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add the extension">
    Open [Lectra Receiver in the Chrome Web Store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hohamfnjodkldfkaippcniphllkfjejf), and then click **Add to Chrome**. When Chrome asks, click **Add extension**. The listing names the publisher as Canvascope, the former name of Scope.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pin it to the toolbar">
    In the Chrome toolbar, click **Extensions** (the puzzle piece), and then click the pin next to **Lectra Receiver**. Pinning keeps the icon in reach.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in">
    Click the **Lectra Receiver** icon, and then click **Sign in with Google**. Choose the Google account that you use for Lectra. When you're signed in, the panel shows "Signed in as" followed by your email address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check that Lectra tools are on">
    In the same panel, make sure the **Lectra tools** switch is on. It's on when you install the extension. While it's on, the **Send to Lectra** button appears on PDFs and the extension stays ready to receive files.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The **Receiver** card at the bottom of the panel shows whether the extension is ready. A green dot means it's ready. An orange dot means it needs your attention, for example because you're signed out or Lectra tools are off. A red dot means something went wrong.

</Tip>

When you send a document from Lectra on your iPad to your computer, Lectra Receiver downloads it in Chrome to your usual downloads folder.

  <Step title="Keep Chrome ready">
    On your computer, keep Chrome open with Lectra Receiver signed in and **Lectra tools** on.

  </Step>

  <Step title="Find the download">
    Lectra shows "Sending to" followed by the destination name, and then "Sent to" when the upload finishes. A moment later, the PDF downloads to your **Downloads** folder, with your markup on the pages. Chrome doesn't show a separate notification, so look in Chrome's download list or your **Downloads** folder.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If Chrome is closed when you send, the document waits. It downloads the next time Chrome opens with Lectra Receiver running. To learn about every way to move files, see [Send files between devices](/lectra/send-between-devices).

## Attach a Lectra PDF on Gradescope

Lectra Receiver adds a **Select from Lectra** button to Gradescope upload forms, so you can submit a document from your Lectra library directly.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the upload form">
    In Gradescope, open the assignment and start a submission. Next to Gradescope's **Select PDF** button, a **Select from Lectra** button appears.

  </Step>
</Steps>

In the list, a document marked **Annotated** has a backed-up copy that includes your markup. A document marked **Open on iPad** is the one open in Lectra on your iPad right now.

<Note>
  The list shows only documents that Lectra has backed up from your iPad. Lectra Receiver attaches the most recent backed-up copy of your pages, or the original PDF if no marked-up copy exists yet. If you wrote on a document recently, give Lectra time to back it up before you attach it. To learn how backups work, see [Backups](/lectra/backups).
</Note>

## Sign out or turn it off

* **To pause the extension**, click the Lectra Receiver icon and turn off **Lectra tools**. The **Send to Lectra** button disappears, the **Select from Lectra** button disappears from Gradescope, and the extension stops receiving files.
* **To sign out**, click the Lectra Receiver icon, and then click **Sign out**.
* **To remove it**, right-click the Lectra Receiver icon, and then click **Remove from Chrome**.
