# Make a study plan

> Turn your upcoming deadlines into a study plan, put study blocks on your Google Calendar, and get a daily briefing of what matters today.

Scope can look at everything due across your courses and help you decide what to work on and when. Ask for a **Smart study plan** to get a plan for the next two weeks, ask Scope to put study blocks on your calendar, and read a daily briefing of what matters today.

## Before you begin

* Let Scope find your courses and their due dates. See [Connect your courses](/chrome/connect-your-courses).
* Sign in to Scope with Google to schedule study blocks and to get the morning briefing. See [Sign in to Scope](/chrome/sign-in).

## Get a smart study plan

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the search bar">
    On a Canvas or Brightspace page, press <kbd>⌘</kbd>+<kbd>K</kbd> or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>K</kbd>.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Type plan">
    Type `plan`. The **Smart study plan** row appears with an **AI** label.
  </Step>

    Press <kbd>Enter</kbd>. Scope writes a study plan for the next two weeks based on your upcoming deadlines and what to prioritize.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The plan appears as text in the search bar, with numbered sources from your course materials that you can click. It doesn't add anything to your calendar on its own. To keep going, type a follow-up in **Ask a follow-up…**.

<Tip>
  You can also type `planner` or `studyplan`, or type `/` to see every command.
</Tip>

## Put study blocks on your calendar

To turn a plan into time on your calendar, ask Scope to schedule it. Scope checks your Google Calendar for free time and adds the blocks.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Ask Scope to schedule">
    In the search bar, type a request such as `find two free hours this week and add study blocks for the chem midterm`, then press <kbd>Enter</kbd> on the **Ask Scope** row.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check what Scope added">
    Scope shows **Scheduling a study block** while it works, then lists each block it added, such as **Scheduled study block:** and the block's name.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Undo anything you don't want">
    Click **Undo** next to a block to delete it from your calendar.
  </Step>
</Steps>

To save a plan instead of only reading it, ask something like `write me a study plan for this week and save it`. Scope saves it to your notes and shows **Saved study plan**. See [Grades, notes, and focus tools](/chrome/course-tools#keep-notes).

For more about what Ask Scope can do, see [Ask Scope](/chrome/ask-scope).

## Get a daily briefing on demand

Type `briefing`, `brief`, or `today` in the search bar and press <kbd>Enter</kbd> on **Daily briefing**. Scope tells you what's due soon, where you stand on grades, and what to focus on today.

## The morning briefing

If you're signed in, Scope also prepares a briefing for you once a day.

* It runs after 8:00 AM your time, the first time Chrome is open that day.
* It reviews your upcoming deadlines and grades and picks the two or three most important things for today.
* Where it clearly helps, it may add study to-dos and study blocks to your Google Calendar. It only creates study aids, never graded work.
* When it's ready, Chrome shows a notification: **Your morning study briefing**.

Click the notification to open the briefing in Scope. Under **Daily briefing**, you see the summary and anything it added. To remove something it added, click **Undo** next to it.

<Note>
  The morning briefing runs only while you're signed in to Scope and Chrome is open. If you sign out, it stops.
</Note>

### Pause or resume the morning briefing

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the briefing">
    Click the **Your morning study briefing** notification.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pause it">
    Under the briefing, click **Pause agent**. Scope stops preparing briefings and adding anything on its own.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The button changes to **Resume agent**. Click it to turn the briefing back on.

<Warning>
  Pausing also pauses Ask Scope, which then answers **Agent is paused.** In this version, the **Resume agent** button appears only under a briefing you open from its notification, and no new briefing notifications arrive while it's paused. If you pause by mistake, click **Resume agent** before you close the briefing. If you can't get back to it, [contact Scope](/resources/get-help).

  If you only want to stop the morning briefing for a while, sign out of Scope instead. When you sign back in, the briefing and Ask Scope both work again.
