# Send a course to Polya

> Bring the Canvas course you're looking at into Polya, the course tutor, in one step from the Scope search bar.

Polya is a tutor that helps you work through your own course materials. If you use Polya, Scope can send it the Canvas course you're looking at, so you don't have to add the course to Polya by hand.

## Before you begin

* Sign in to Scope with the same Google account you use for Polya. See [Sign in to Scope](/chrome/sign-in).
* Open the Canvas course you want to send. This works with Canvas courses only.

## Send a course

    Open any page in the course, such as its home page.

  <Step title="Open the search bar">
    Press <kbd>⌘</kbd>+<kbd>K</kbd> or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>K</kbd>.

  <Step title="Type polya">
    Type `polya`. The **Study in Polya** row appears, with the description **Send this course to Polya**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send it">
    Press <kbd>Enter</kbd>. Scope shows **Bringing this course into Polya…** A large course can take a few minutes.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open Polya">
    When it's done, Scope shows **Course sent to Polya.** and how many items it sent. Click **Open in Polya** to start studying.

**Study in Polya** is always available in the search bar. There's no setting to turn it on or off, and it does nothing until you choose it.

You can run **Study in Polya** again later to bring in new material. Items that haven't changed are skipped, and Scope tells you how many were already up to date. If nothing changed, it says **Everything was already up to date.**

## Messages you might see

| **Open a Canvas course first.** | Go to the course in Canvas, then try again. |
| **Couldn't send this course to Polya.** with **Sign in to Scope with the same Google account you use for Polya.** | Sign in to Scope with your Polya account, then try again. |
| **Couldn't send this course to Polya.** with **No readable materials were found in this course.** | The course has nothing Polya can read yet. Try another course, or add materials in Polya directly. |
| **Couldn't send this course to Polya.** with **Try again in a moment.** | Wait a moment and try again. |
