> ## Documentation Index > Fetch the complete documentation index at: https://docs.canvascope.org/llms.txt > Use this file to discover all available pages before exploring further. # Settings > A reference for every setting in the Scope extension: your account, Canvas appearance, features, course sites, search, suggestions, and your data. This page lists every setting in the Scope extension, in the order you see them, with what each one does and its starting value. ## Open Settings Click the Scope icon in your Chrome toolbar, then click the **Settings** icon (the gear) next to the search box. To go back, click the back arrow or press Esc. Some sections appear only when you're signed in. Those are marked in the following tables. ## Account and profile | Setting | What it does | | - | - | | Your name and email | Shown at the top when you're signed in. Click it to open **Student profile**. | | **Student profile** (signed in) | **Name**, **School**, **Grade / year**, **Major(s)**, **Career plans**, and **Other info**. Helps Scope tailor answers and suggestions to you. Click **Save profile** to save, or **Clear** to empty it. | | Lectra storage (signed in) | How much of your Lectra storage you've used, such as **Lectra storage: 1.2 GB of 5 GB used**. Click it for a short explanation. | | **Account** (signed out) | **Sign in**, to send PDFs to Lectra and save your student profile. See [Sign in to Scope](/chrome/sign-in). | | **Sign out** (signed in) | At the bottom of Settings. Signs you out of Scope on this browser. | ## Connect Canvas and Google Drive These sections appear only when you're signed in. | Setting | What it does | | - | - | | **Connect Canvas** | Lets Scope check your Canvas courses even when Canvas isn't open, using an access token you create in Canvas. Off until you connect. See [Connect Canvas with an access token](/chrome/connect-your-courses#connect-canvas-with-an-access-token-optional). | | **Google Drive** | Most people see **Google Drive is coming soon** and a **Coming Soon** button that can't be clicked yet. Connecting Drive isn't available to everyone yet. | ## Appearance Changes to Canvas apply to your open Canvas tabs right away. For details and examples, see [Change how Canvas looks](/chrome/canvas-appearance). | Setting | Starts as | What it does | | - | - | - | | **Theme** | **Dark** | Colors of the Scope popup and search bar: **Light** or **Dark**. | | **Canvas theme** | **Canvas Default** | Colors of Canvas pages: **Canvas Default** or **Paper**. | | **Card density** | **Canvas default** | Spacing of dashboard course cards: **Canvas default**, **Compact**, **Cozy**, or **Comfy**. | | **Canvas tweaks** > **Grade pills on cards** | Off | Shows your current letter and percent on each dashboard card. | | **Canvas tweaks** > **Hover previews** | Off | Shows a preview when you hover an assignment, quiz, or announcement link. | | **Canvas tweaks** > **Card gradient** | Off | Has no visible effect in the current version. | | **Canvas tweaks** > **Hide recent feedback** | Off | Hides **Recent Feedback** on your dashboard. | | **Canvas tweaks** > **Hide Help link** | Off | Hides Canvas's **Help** link. | | **Canvas tweaks** > **Reset Canvas appearance** | | Puts Canvas back to how it looked before. Asks you to confirm. | ## Features | Setting | Starts as | What it does | | - | - | - | | **Open search with /** | On | Press / on a course page to open Scope. ⌘+K or Ctrl+K always works. | | **Syllabus deadlines** | On | Offers to add dates to your calendar when you open a syllabus. See [Add syllabus deadlines to your calendar](/chrome/syllabus-deadlines). | | **Schedule Planner insight** | On | Instructor ratings and past grades in UC Berkeley's Schedule Planner. See [Plan classes in Berkeley's Schedule Planner](/chrome/berkeley-schedule-planner). | | **Deadline reminders** | Off | Notifications before work is due, and one-time reminders you set. See [Get deadline reminders](/chrome/due-dates#get-deadline-reminders). | | **Send to Lectra** | Off | Adds a **Send to Lectra** button to PDFs you open. They land in Lectra's Scope Inbox. The line under it shows whether Lectra is ready. See [Send files to Lectra on your iPad](/chrome/send-to-ipad). | **Study in Polya** in the search bar doesn't have a setting. It's always available and does nothing until you choose it. See [Send a course to Polya](/chrome/study-in-polya). ## Course sites Scope works on Canvas and Brightspace. Use this section to add your school's site if Scope doesn't recognize it. | Setting | What it does | | - | - | | **Add this site?** | Appears when the tab you're on looks like a course site Scope doesn't know. Click **Add** to let Scope work there. | | Your added sites | Each site you added, with a **Remove** button. Shows **No extra sites added.** if you haven't added any. | See [Add your school's site](/chrome/connect-your-courses#add-your-schools-site). ## Search and AI This section is labeled **Search & AI** in Settings. | Setting | Starts as | What it does | | - | - | - | | **Adaptive ranking** | On | Learns from what you open to improve results. | | **Sync course text across devices** | Off | Saves the text Scope reads from your course files to your Scope account, so Scope on another computer where you're signed in can search it too. You must be signed in to turn it on. | | **Advanced** > **Custom ranking** | Off | Shows sliders that change how Scope orders results. Marked **Experimental**. | | **Advanced** > **Clear search habits** | | Clears what Scope has learned about how you search. Asks you to confirm, and can't be undone. | ### Custom ranking sliders Turn on **Custom ranking** to see these sliders. Extreme values can make results less useful. To undo your changes, click **Reset to defaults**. | Slider | Default | Higher values | | - | - | - | | **Broad match** | 35% | Allow looser matches. | | **Title priority** | 100% | Favor exact title matches. | | **Context match** | 100% | Lean more on folders, modules, and course names. | | **Freshness** | 100% | Favor material Scope found recently. | | **Course bias** | 100% | Favor the course you're in and your favorite courses. | | **Due date priority** | 100% | Lift upcoming work and push overdue work lower. | | **Task type bias** | 100% | Favor assignments, quizzes, and files more. | ## Personalized suggestions Scope can suggest what to work on next, such as an assignment that's due soon or a course to review, based on your own Scope activity. Suggestions appear in this section of Settings, each with a **Dismiss** button. | Setting | Starts as | What it does | | - | - | - | | **Suggestions** | On | Turns suggestions on or off. The line under it says **On.**, **Paused.**, or **Off.** | | **Pause** | Off | Stops new suggestions for now. Nothing is deleted. | | **What Scope keeps** | | Shows the short summaries Scope uses, where they're kept, and when they were last updated. | | **Delete Suggestion Data** | | Deletes your suggestion data from this browser and your account, and turns suggestions off. Asks you to confirm. | When you're signed out, suggestion data is kept **On this device only**. When you're signed in, it's kept **On this device and in your account**. ## About | Setting | What it does | | - | - | | **Help & shortcuts** | Opens a quick start, a list of keyboard shortcuts, and example searches you can click to try. | | **Version** | The version of Scope you have, such as 12.0.2. | ## Your data | Setting | What it does | | - | - | | **Saved on this browser** | Recent searches, what Scope has read from your Canvas pages, and how you search. | | **Clear Scope data on this browser** | Removes those from this browser. Nothing in Lectra or in your account is affected, and you stay signed in. Try again.** | Try the switch again. If it keeps happening, close and reopen the popup. | | **Sign in to turn this on.** | This setting needs a Scope account. Sign in, then try again. | | **Not available right now.
