# Track what's due

> See overdue work, today's deadlines, and the week ahead across every course in one list, and get reminders before things are due.

Scope gathers the due dates from all your courses into one agenda, so you can see what's overdue, what's due today, and what's coming this week without opening each course. It also notices what you've already turned in.

## Open your agenda

Click the Scope icon in your Chrome toolbar. When the search box is empty, the popup shows:

* **Continue where you left off**: the last course item you opened, with a **Resume** label. Click it to go back.
* **Recently opened**: a few more items you opened recently.
* Your agenda, grouped by when things are due.

The search bar on course pages shows a shorter version: your work due in the next seven days, under **This week**.

## Read the agenda

The agenda lists assignments, quizzes, discussions, and your own to-dos, in these groups:

| Group | What's in it |
| - | - |
| **Overdue** | Work that was due in the last 30 days and isn't turned in. |
| **Today** | Work due before midnight tonight. |
| **This week** | Work due in the next seven days. |
| **No due date** | Work that doesn't have a due date. |
| **Completed** | Work you've submitted, or that was graded or excused. |

Work due more than a week from now isn't on the agenda yet. You can still find it with [search](/chrome/search).

Each row shows the title, the course, the type, and a short due label on the right, such as `11:59p` for today, `Thu` for later this week, or `3d` for three days overdue. Hover the label to see it in words, such as **Due tomorrow** or **3d overdue**. Click a row to open it.

## Filter the agenda

Use the tabs above the agenda:

| Tab | Shows |
| - | - |
| **All** | Everything, plus **Continue where you left off** and **Recently opened**. |
| **Due** | Only the agenda. |
| **Assignments** | Only assignments. |
| **Quizzes** | Only quizzes. |
| **Pinned** | Only work you've pinned. To pin something, see [Pin items you use often](/chrome/search#pin-items-you-use-often). |

To see one course only, use **Try this course only**. See [Limit search to one course](/chrome/search#limit-search-to-one-course).

## Clear out overdue work

If you've handled something Scope still lists, you can dismiss it.

* To dismiss one item, click the **×** at the end of its row (**Dismiss task**).
* To review all overdue work at once, click the number next to **Overdue**. A panel opens that says **Click an item to open it, or × to dismiss it.** Click **×** on each item you're done with.

<Note>
  Dismissing removes an item from your agenda for good on this browser. It doesn't change anything in Canvas, and you can still find the item with search.
</Note>

## Add your own to-dos

You can add to-dos that aren't in Canvas, such as "email TA about regrade".

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the search bar">
    On a Canvas or Brightspace page, press <kbd>⌘</kbd>+<kbd>K</kbd> or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>K</kbd>.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Type the to-do">
    Type `todo` followed by your to-do, for example `todo email TA about regrade`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save it">
    Press <kbd>Enter</kbd> on the **Add to-do** row. The search bar closes and the to-do is saved.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Your to-dos show up on your agenda and in search. Ask Scope can also add study to-dos for you. See [Ask Scope](/chrome/ask-scope).

## Get deadline reminders

Scope can show a computer notification before work is due. Reminders are off until you turn them on.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Settings">
    Click the Scope icon, then click the **Settings** icon (the gear).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on reminders">
    Under **Features**, turn on **Deadline reminders**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

With reminders on, Scope notifies you:

* About 24 hours and about 2 hours before an assignment, quiz, discussion, or to-do is due. Click one of these reminders to open the item.
* About work that's due within a day, or became overdue in the last day, when it checks each hour. These notifications say **Due in** or **Overdue** before the title, and each check shows at most three.

<Note>
  Notifications appear only while Chrome is running. If you don't see them, check that your computer allows notifications from Chrome.
</Note>

### Set a one-time reminder

You can also set a reminder for anything.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the search bar">
    On a Canvas or Brightspace page, press <kbd>⌘</kbd>+<kbd>K</kbd> or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>K</kbd>.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Type the reminder">
    Type `remind`, what to remind you about, and when. For example: `remind midterm review in 1h`, `remind lab report in 30m`, or `remind pay tuition tomorrow 9am`. If you don't say when, Scope reminds you in one hour.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save it">
    Press <kbd>Enter</kbd> on the **Set reminder** row.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  One-time reminders appear only when **Deadline reminders** is on in Settings. If it's off, the reminder is saved but you won't get a notification.
</Warning>

## Add syllabus dates to your calendar

Scope can read a course syllabus and add its deadlines to your Google Calendar. See [Add syllabus deadlines to your calendar](/chrome/syllabus-deadlines).
