# Commands

> Every command you can run from the Scope search bar on a course page, what it does, and what to type.

Besides searching, the Scope search bar on Canvas and Brightspace pages runs commands. You type a command's name, and its row appears at the top of the results. Press <kbd>Enter</kbd> to run it.

## Run a command

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the search bar">
    On a Canvas or Brightspace page, press <kbd>⌘</kbd>+<kbd>K</kbd> or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>K</kbd>, or press <kbd>/</kbd>.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find the command">
    Type the command's name, such as `gpa`. To see every command, type `/` in the search box.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Run it">
    Highlight the command's row and press <kbd>Enter</kbd>, or click it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

A command's row shows its name, a short description, and a label for what it does, such as **OPEN**, **ADD**, or **AI**. Commands match only their exact name, or the name with one typo, so ordinary searches aren't taken over by commands.

Some commands take text after the name, such as `note buy lab goggles`. If you choose one of these without text, Scope puts the command name in the box and waits for you to type the rest.

<Note>
  Commands run only in the search bar on course pages. They aren't in the toolbar popup.
</Note>
